Last week, we were honored to be a part of an important discussion at the BIO Digital conference amongst prestigious panelists to talk about ‘How an Innovative Ecosystem Enables Growth During Times of Crisis and Beyond.’ We were also thrilled to learn that our panel is featured as a ‘Best of BIO’ panel, chosen as one of the best sessions at the conference.

Rajeev Dutt, our CEO and Founder, joined fellow panelists who brought deep expertise and shared best practices for creating successful innovative ecosystems. Not surprisingly, the overarching theme on the panel was how collaboration, investing, funding, healthcare and the nature of work overall are all changing during this unprecedented time and how it might shape the future of innovation.

The discussions ranged from how San Diego went from experiencing a major economic decline to becoming a thriving tech and life sciences hub, to how science professionals dependent on in-person lab work are continuing to innovate during COVID, all the way to how global startups are leveraging community to survive and thrive in this trying time.

Here’s a bit of what Rajeev discussed as it relates to how this unprecedented time is impacting artificial intelligence (AI):

“The pandemic has increased the hunger for AI as businesses are looking for ways to achieve efficiencies. One thing we are focused on is reducing the amount of code and cutting down project costs and durations. Now that we are beginning to see how the current crisis is putting pressure on businesses, we are looking more attractive than hiring a big AI team. If you look at history of platforms, when companies go through adversity, like in the early 80s, 90s, 2000s, one thing that happens is companies that are pushing productivity improvements are the beneficiaries.”

How are the current times impacting your sector now and into the future? We’d love to hear from you.

In the meantime, you can view the full panel discussion here.
